Hello everyone, I know many spammers are attracted to Blog Comments as a way of distributing their wares, but sometimes ‘spam’ can raise a very interesting point. Like this one, provided to me by someone calling itself ‘Himbo’ …”
“How long does a copyright last on newspaper articles?”
The answer is complicated, but generally depends on if you keep the newspaper dry, and out of the sun. I have newspapers dating back to the mid 20th century, clean and pristine in a cardboard boy. Oh, sorry, I mean BOX.
Examining them I notice that the copyright is perfectly visible – after so long!
Now, conversly, I have several recent copies of the Sunday Times which I mistakenly left outside for around 7 months. Niether the copyright OR the editorial are visible, although they’re clearly headed Sunday Times, and some of the headlines can still be seen.
There! I hope this clears matters up – and if you’re fortunate enough to recieve a similar imagination-sparking piece of spam like this, don’t hesitate not to point them at this post for the answer to their questions!
Till next time, with love,
Helga Walters (The Housekeeper)
